A short test for mania

This test is a quick quiz to determine whether you have the symptoms of mania, as defined by the National Institute of Mental Health. The test is quite simple: it goes through the seven symptoms of mania and asks you if you have that symptom. Three or more symptoms are regarded as meeting the diagnostic criteria of mania.
This is the companion test to the major depression test, these two tests are the first in a series we are developing.

All the caveats that apply to the depression test are relevant here too. That is to say, unless you’re a health professional, you’re not necessarily qualified to judge whether or not you have any particular symptom. Furthermore, it is often hard to make these kind of decisions about your own behavior. If you think you may be manic then your best course of action is to see a health professional.
Don’t treat the results as a diagnosis, even informally.
The test is intended for educational purposes.

To repeat: This is an online test and should not be taken as a diagnosis. It is an education tool, and an awareness raising exercise, that’s all. You can’t find out if you have a particular condition or disorder by doing online tests. The only way to find out is with a real world interaction with a health professional.

If you think you are manic, please see a doctor or a psychologist. Online resources such as this site can only ever be a supplement to the support that you can get through personalised treatment.
